History

In the summer of 1996 I attended my first Volkswagen show.  I remember being in awe of all the cars and wishing to someday have a show car of mine own.  The one thing that really stuck out to me more than the cars were people.  It was more than just a car show, it was a gathering of friends (old and new) and moreover there was a sense of community. Over the next few years I was able to accomplish my goal of buying a new car and building a show car out of it.  My car of choice a Red 1998 Volkswagen MKIII VR6 Jetta. I drove to shows up and down the east coast meeting new friends along the way.  In fact I am still friends with most of them today.  My best-est of friends I met though the love of cars and I wouldn’t change that ever.

Over the years I had always thought about starting my own car show and finally in 2016 was the perfect time to do it.  I wanted to welcome old and new friends in the community to the feeling I had at the first car show I attended.   After many conversations with my family and friends and their pledges of support, Eurobuilt was born.

Not long after Eurobuilt was born, Sam Desmarais of Sam’s Euro Shop came on board as the title sponsor. I first met Sam years ago while doing a photo shoot with Club Broke Status and knew of his level of craftsmanship.  I knew he would be bringing some of the nicest builds in New England to Eurobuilt and he didn’t disappoint.  Other great sponsors and vendors came on board and helped to make the event a success.

In order to help with the feeling of community, we decided that Eurobuilt needed to support a charity and believe we found one of the best in the VW community, Foundation Blue.  Foundation Blue was started in memory of Alexi deRochambeau. He was known by many, near and far, in the VW community, the foundation works to keep Alexi’s legacy alive through giving back to the community.  Alexi always was able to keep people together, always made everyone feel welcome and always gave the right info to the right people.

Having our sponsors and charity in place, the first Eurobuilt Car Show was held on September 18, 2016 at the Vermont State Fairgrounds in Rutland.
